Life decisions need life support! That’s why Lighthouse is committed to equipping parents facing unexpected pregnancies with the resources needed to care for their newborns. We do that throughPREP – our Parenting Readiness & Enrichment Program. PREP is available to women and couples who visit us early in their pregnancy. Their commitment to coming for prenatal and parenting education, relationship counsel, or spiritual and emotional support makes them eligible for essential items to care for their child — including diapers and wipes!
Did you know a baby uses between 2,500 and 3,000 diapers in her first year of life?! That’s A LOT of diapers!!
Our parenting preparation continues through a child’s first birthday, and addresses pregnancy and childbirth, newborn care, postpartum emotions, and much more! Parents meet with our caring peer counselors every other week to receive encouragement, education and much-needed material aid. This ongoing support opens the door for sharing the Gospel.
Recently a Paterson volunteer shared that she first came to Lighthouse looking for material aid for her baby — but found love and so much more! Doris’ sisters told her Lighthouse would give her diapers but that the “worst part” would be that she would have to spend an hour in counseling with us each week. “The worst part became the best part for me!” Doris explained, “because every time I came, my counselors listened to me and shared Jesus with me. And now, I will worship Him the rest of my life!” Today Doris joyfully serves in our Paterson Center: “I clean with love, so that someone else coming in who is like I was, will find God’s love here.”
Last year, Lighthouse distributed nearly 100,000 diapers free of charge through PREP – because of people like you! We need your help to serve more moms like Doris. We can’t provide this valuable life support without your generosity to stock our PREP Shoppe shelves with diapers and wipes, and other essentials.
